BAC

A User-Friendly Electronic Cognitive Assessment Battery with Improved Sensitivity to Impairment

The Pathway-based BAC test battery is quick and easy to administer while preserving the human interaction of traditional neurocognitive testing that is necessary for impaired populations. The electronic BAC provides investigators with meaningful results while reducing rater and patient burden.

The BAC Measures Performance Across Multiple Cognitive Domains:

  • Verbal Memory
  • Processing Speed
  • Working Memory
  • Verbal Fluency
  • Motor Function
  • Executive Function

Key benefits of the BAC:

  • Scientifically validated
  • Large database of available normative data
  • Alternate forms for repeated testing
  • Automated response capture and scoring
  • High reliability and sensitivity to impairment
  • Available in multiple languages
  • Expert training available
  • Fast, responsive technical support
  • FDA 21 CFR part 11 compliant

VRFCAT

Integrating Virtual Reality into the Assessment of Functioning in Clinical Trials

The Virtual Reality Functional Capacity Assessment Tool (VRFCAT)

VRFCAT is a computer-based test that simulates key instrumental activities of daily living (iADLS) in a realistic and interactive virtual environment. With demonstrated sensitivity to basic functional capacity deficits, the VRFCAT was developed to improve clinical trials by detecting functionally meaningful improvements in patients’ everyday lives. The VRFCAT has numerous advantages over conventional assessments, and meets the highest psychometric and regulatory standards, with strong support from industry sponsors, NIH and FDA as a functional co-primary outcome measure.

Advantages of the VRFCAT:

  • Scientifically validated
  • Accurate, performance-based results
  • Integrated data capture
  • Alternate forms for repeated testing
  • Eases administrator burden
  • Well-tolerated by patients
  • Available in multiple languages and culturally adapted environments
  • Fast, responsive 24/7 technical support

SCoRS

A Clinical Measure Sensitive to Treatment Effects

The Schizophrenia Cognition Rating Scale (SCoRS) is a 20-item interview-based clinical assessment available on The Pathway or via pen-and-paper that evaluates cognitive deficits and the degree to which these deficits impair patients’ day-to-day functioning. It was originally developed in 2001 at Duke University Medical Center by VeraSci CEO and Co-Founder Dr. Richard Keefe and is licensed through VeraSci. The SCoRS is used in registration-level clinical trials, academic research and in clinical settings.

The SCoRS contains questions about the patient’s ability to manage cognitively demanding, functionally relevant, everyday tasks such as conversations, watching television and using electronic devices.

The items were developed to assess the following cognitive domains:

  • Attention
  • Memory
  • Working Memory
  • Language Production
  • Reasoning
  • Problem Solving
  • Motor Skills
  • Social Cognition

As an interview-based assessment of cognition, the SCoRS meets the criteria established by the FDA-NIMH-MATRICS panel for co-primary outcome measures for cognitive enhancement trials in schizophrenia.

A Reliable Measure of Every Day Functioning in Patients with Schizophrenia

The UCSD Performance-based Skills Assessment is a role-play assessment designed to evaluate an individual’s functional capacity in selected domains of basic living skills. These areas include Financial Skills, Communication, Comprehension/Planning, Transportation, Household Management, and Medication Management. Participants utilize props to demonstrate how they perform everyday activities and are assessed on how well they execute these tasks.

UPSA-2

The UPSA-2 includes the following 6 subscales: Financial Skills, Communication, Comprehension/Planning, Transportation, Household Management and Medication Management.
Administration time: Approximately 45 minutes

UPSA-2-VIM

The UPSA-2-VIM includes 5 subscales of the UPSA-2 (excludes Medication Management).
Administration time: Approximately 45 minutes

UPSA-2ER

The UPSA-2ER is an extended range version that contains the same 6 subscales as the UPSA-2 but includes additional questions to increase the level of difficulty for each subscale.
Administration Time: Approximately 60 minutes

UPSA-B

An abbreviated version containing 2 subscales of the UPSA-2 (Financial Skills and Communication Skills). This has also been adapted for use outside of the US by replacing the check writing portion of the Financial Skills subscale with questions similar to the UPSA-2.
Administration Time: Approximately 15 minutes
